Dally M medallist Nicho Hynes stepped in on Monday morning to settle a suicidal person at a hotspot on the south coast.

The Sharks halfback talked down a person from jumping off Sea Cliff Bridge near Wollongong – confirming the act on Monday afternoon.

2GB sports broadcaster Spiro Christopoulous reached out to the No.7 to validate the rumours – with Hynes replying ‘Yeah, mate. It happened. Crazy stuff.’

Hynes’ stunning show of character is not out of the ordinary for him. The 28-year-old has worked in mental health before and has endured through problems of his own in the past.

“I’ve been a big advocate over the last few years with my story and speaking about mental health, I’ve spoken so much about it out loud, so I need to follow through with it,” Hynes said in May.

Cronulla’s front man was dealt with a shocking blow just hours after his good samaritan, live-saving act. Hynes suffered a serious ankle injury at training and will most likely be out of the line-up for rounds to come.

On Monday afternoon he was spotted in a moon-boot and on crutches after falling on his ankle badly.

“He’s strong-minded Nicho, I think if we all get around him he will be sweet,” Sharks fullback William Kennedy said.

“We all love him, but it’s not something you want to see at training.”

Hynes has been subject to a slump in form over the past month, with the halfback axed from the Blues side and missing a crucial drop-goal against the Bulldogs.
