Another AFL-NRL cross-code boxing battle will take place on Wednesday, July 10, when Barry Hall and Curtis Scott lock horns in Wollongong as part of the Sam Goodman vs Chainoi Worawut main card.

The event’s first fight is set to begin at 5pm (AEST), while the main card will commence at 7pm (AEST).

Ten fights are scheduled for the evening, with Hall and Scott expected to be the penultimate bout.

This is The Roar‘s guide to watching the event on TV or live streaming in Australia.

This is AFL great Hall’s first fight since being knocked out in the first round by rugby legend Sonny Bill Williams more than two years ago.

The 47-year old played 289 games and kicked 746 goals for St Kilda, Sydney and the Western Bulldogs, and was co-captain of the Swans’ drought-breaking 2005 premiership team.

However, his career was pockmarked by several ugly on-field incidents, most notably his infamous king hit on West Coast opponent Brent Staker in a 2008 match, that saw Hall suspended for seven matches.

Since retiring in 2011, Hall has appeared in two boxing bouts, both cross-code encounters: the first a controversial draw with NRL great Paul Gallen in November 2019, and the second his KO at the hands of Williams in March 2022.

26-year old Scott saw his fledgling rugby league career terminated in late 2021 due to a string of off-field charges against him, having previously played 73 matches for the Melbourne Storm and Canberra Raiders, including the Storm’s 2017 grand final win.

At the Storm, Scott was famously sent off in a 2018 match against Manly for punching then-Sea Eagle Dylan Walker, while at the Raiders, he injured his hand in a fight with teammate John Bateman at a private function in 2020.

He was also charged with bringing the game into disrepute, suspended for three matches and fined $15,000 by the NRL for an alleged fight at a Canberra nightclub, though no charges were laid.

In 2022, after being sacked by the Raiders partly due to the nightclub incident, he was arrested and charged with a serious of domestic violence acts against his former partner, and was later found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault and stalk or intimidate with the intention of causing fear or physical harm.

This is his third professional boxing fight, holding a 2-0 record in the ring, and is the heavy favourite to defeat the significantly older Hall.
