Melbourne enforcer Nelson Asofa-Solomona has copped yet another suspension after being reported for throwing a stray elbow in the Storm’s upset loss against Manly.

Asofa-Solomona, who missed last year’s grand final defeat to Penrith through suspension, was immediately put on report late in the first half.

He will miss the next two rounds unless he can prove his innocence at the judiciary.

The 29-year-old’s elbow on Sea Eagles hooker Jake Simpkin proved costly in more ways than one.

Just minutes after coming on in the first half, Simpkin was placed on report for a dangerous tackle on Grant Anderson.

Simpkin avoided being sin-binned, but Anderson was forced from the field for a HIA.

Melbourne were out for retribution, with Asofa-Solomona throwing his elbow back in a tackle from Simpkin, collecting him in the head.

Asofa-Solomona’s rush of blood proved costly, as it came in the same play captain Harry Grant crossed for a try just before halftime.

But the four-pointer was overturned, leaving Storm coach Craig Bellamy furious.

Sports opinion delivered daily

Simpkin failed to return, but Manly coach Anthony Seibold said the club would consider challenging the category one concussion ruling to avoid him going into protocols.

When asked for his views on the incident, Bellamy was typically blunt: “I’ve got an opinion, but I ain’t going to say it.”

Bulldogs duo Jacob Kiraz and Max King were also pinged by the match review committee. Kiraz can avoid a two-game ban by paying a $2500 fine for a dangerous throw on Corey Allan while King’s crusher tackle on Clint Gutherson will cost him $1500-$2000.

Sharks pair Blayke Brailey and Addin Fonua-Blake were fined following the Sharks’ win over the Roosters on Friday night.

Brailey was handed a Grade 1 Dangerous Throw for a dangerous tackle and is facing a fine of $1000-$1500 while Fonua-Blake ($1500-$2000) was slapped with a Grade 1 Shoulder Tackle for an incident immediately afterwards.

Souths half Jamie Humphreys and Dolphins forward Oryn Keeley ($1000-$1500 for Grade 1 Dangerous Contact), are facing the same sanctions while Cowboys prop Coen Hess (Grade 1 Crusher Tackle) has been fined $1500-$2000.
