Latrell Mitchell is set to miss the State of Origin decider – and plenty of matches for the Rabbitohs as well – after suffering a serious foot injury at training.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Mitchell, who was a standout for NSW in their thumping 38-18 win over Queensland in Game 2 at the MCG, sustained the injury on Thursday night, and is expected to miss multiple weeks.
It comes as a major blow not only to the Blues’ chances of a comeback series win, but also puts a severe dent in the Rabbitohs’ hopes of continuing their shock run to the finals under interim coach Ben Hornby.
The Telegraph are reporting that Mitchell is set to have further scans on Saturday afternoon, but is seen as highly unlikely to be fit for Game 3 at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday, July 17.
